Native American Tribes Nations and Confederacies: Montagnais and Naskapi
The Montagnais, also known as the Innu, are the indigenous inhabitants of an area they refer to as Nitassinan, which comprises most of the north-eastern portions of Quebec. Their ancestors were knows to have lived on these lands as hunter-gatherers for several thousand years, living I tents made of animal skins.
Their activities were centered on hunting and trapping, and catching small game. The Montagnais population, as of the year 2003, was counted at 18,000 tribe members.
