Native American Tribes Nations and Confederacies: Modoc

The Modoc is a federally recognized Native American tribe, and the smallest in Oklahoma. The traditional lands of the Modoc people are on the California-Oregon border, surrounded by the Cascade Mountains on the north, and the Lava Beds on the south.

The tribe spoke the Klamath-Modoc language, which is no longer used by living Modocs, and their name for themselves is The Maklaks.
